Skyline is built by using ICF exterior walls and floors. We could build from regular cements blocks like our competitors in the area, but 75% reduction in outside air infiltration (less dust and allergens) and the decision to build an Ecological construction and Energy preservation building is highly important not only in a town like Tulum, but also to preserve the environment for the yet unborn generations. So we went the extra mile, and decided to use the most Energy Efficient construction system which is known as ICF.
So what is ICF?
Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) is a system of formwork for reinforced concrete made with high density insulation that stays in place as a permanent interior and exterior substrate for walls, floors, and roofs.
What are the benefits of using ICF?
- Superior insulation and energy preservation – 30-70% savings in energy consumption and costs. This is very significant in a warm climate as Tulum.
- Quiet living – the insulated walls eliminate the outside noises.
- High strength housing structure. Tornado, hurricane and earthquake resistant. The use of pure concrete ads to the strength of the building compared to blocks structure.
